Dickenson Media launched in August 2024 as an online news and information platform to serve Dickenson County residents and beyond. Dickenson Media is only available online; no print version is available.
Founded by Rod Mullins, Dickenson Media serves as a portal into life in far Southwestern Virginia and the Commonwealth’s youngest county, Dickenson, founded in 1880. Dickenson Media also aims to fill a void in a media desert in the county, providing local news on a consistent basis as well as coverage of local government meetings, special events and high school sports by audio and video.
Dickenson Media serves Dickenson County and the towns of Clinchco, Clintwood and Haysi, in a region encompassing Dickenson County and neighboring counties that border the county on the northeast, southeast and southwest regions.
Dickenson Media is a news partner with Augusta Free Press which serves Waynesboro and Augusta County and Charlottesville in Albemarle County. Augusta Free Press provides news and information on a regional and statewide basis.

Recently, we began a new feature on Dickenson Media called The Daily Briefing. The Daily Briefing is sent by email to your inbox and features links to our current online articles. Other emails to your inbox might include breaking news, news updates and links to live events.
Those interested in receiving our Daily Briefing and accessing the Dickenson Media site can register their e-mail by clicking the Subscribe now button below.
Please note: all current content is available for free, as readers may subscribe for free current content but find articles older than three months inaccessible. That’s why we have established subscriber options for readers interested in access to those older articles along with supporting our cause at Dickenson Media.
