(CLINTWOOD) - Another traffic stop, another haul for the Dickenson County Sheriff’s Department.
While the news is positive for some county residents in getting drugs off the streets, it’s like trying to stop a dam from springing another leak; plug one hole and two more begin.
It is a never-ending saga and doesn’t appear to be ending anytime soon.
On Monday, a Dickenson County Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a traffic stop in the Clintwood area and during the stop, the department's K-9 unit was deployed to conduct a free-air sniff of the vehicle. The K-9 alerted to the presence of narcotics, which led to a probable cause search of the vehicle.
As a result of the investigation:
One individual was arrested on outstanding warrants and also charged with Possession of a Schedule I or II Controlled Substance with a second individual arrested and charged with possession of a Schedule I or II Controlled Substance, possession of a Schedule VI Controlled Substance and possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
The release from Sheriff Jeremy Fleming and the Dickenson County Sheriff’s Office stated that the department “remains committed to protecting our community and combating the illegal drug activity that threatens the safety of our citizens.”
Sheriff Fleming also thanked the department deputies and the county’s K-9 unit for “their continued vigilance and dedication to public safety.”
