(CLINTWOOD) - The National Weather Service office in Charleston, WV which monitors weather for Buchanan and Dickenson counties, has issued a FLASH FLOOD WATCH for Tuesday May 20, 2025 in effect through 2:00 AM Wednesday.
The expected heavy rainfall from storms moving through Tuesday and Wednesday for Buchanan and Dickenson counties may result in excessive runoff that may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas with several rounds of showers and thunderstorms containing heavy rainfall will impact the area Tuesday through Tuesday night.
You are encouraged to monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
