Dickenson Media launched in August 2024 as an online news and information platform to serve Dickenson County residents and beyond. Dickenson Media is only available online; no print version is available.
Founded by former teacher and media professional Rod Mullins, Dickenson Media serves as a portal into life in far Southwestern Virginia and the Commonwealth’s youngest county, Dickenson, founded in 1880.
Dickenson Media also aims to fill a void in a local media desert in the county, providing local news on a consistent basis as well as coverage of local government meetings, and special events, live or recorded, by audio and video.
Dickenson Media serves Dickenson County and the towns of Clinchco, Clintwood and Haysi, in a region encompassing Dickenson County and neighboring counties that border the county on the northeast, southeast and southwest regions.
Dickenson Media is a news partner with Augusta Free Press which serves Waynesboro and Augusta County and Charlottesville in Albemarle County. Augusta Free Press provides news and information on a regional and statewide basis.
